STRESS
What is Stress?
Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry , or nervous. Stress is the body's' reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental and emotional responses Stress becomes negative when a person faces continuous challenges without relief or relaxation between stressors. As a result ,the person becomes overworked, and stress-related tension builds.
Stress that continues without relief can lead to a condition called distress- a negative stress reaction. Stress also becomes harmful when people engage in the compulsive use of substances or try to relieve their stress .
We all know what it's like to feel stressed, but it's not easy to pin down exactly what stress means. When we say things like "this is stressful" or "I'm stressed", we might be talking about:
Situations or events that put pressure on us – for example, times where we have lots to do and think about, or don't have much control over what happens.
Our reaction to being placed under pressure – the feelings we get when we have demands placed on us that we find difficult to cope with.
